Tennessee School Bus Driver charged for crash, 6 dead, 35 injured
A Tennessee school bus driver got arrested after he crashed his bus, which killed 6 students and more than 35 are injured.
The unfortunate incident reportedly happened on Monday evening, when the students were onboard to get back home.
Police believe that the driver was either drunk or over speed, as no other vehicle was involved in the accident. The bus itself flipped upside down after crashing into a tree.
The police chief, Fred Fletcher, said that bus driver, Johnthony Walker, a 24-year-old, has been charged with five counts of vehicular homicide. He added that in early investigation, it has been found that he was driving recklessly and hence he has been also charged with reckless driving.
Fletcher said this accident is ‘one of the most horrifying incident ever he has seen’.
Another report has cleared that five students who died were from same school, Woodmoor Elementary, and the remaining one’s identity is still under suspicion.
More than 35 people, including staffs and students, were found injured and were taken to local hospital as soon as possible.
Few students received minor injuries, who were immediately discharged from hospital but remaining are still under observation.
As per another report, emergency workers needed two hours to transport the injured student to the hospital, which most people think as the major reason behind six deaths.
On the other hand, local people seeing the condition, lined up outside the hospital to donate blood the injured students on Monday evening, after the crash.
Some donors were asked to come on Tuesday, as the current stock was reportedly filled.
